Requirements
– If possible please leave a space close by for our Host to park and unload our critters. We would hate for the presentation to be delayed because the Host is unable to find parking anywhere near the party site.

– We should arrive about 15min after guests are told to arrive so we’re not coming through the door at the same time and anyone running late will not miss the start of the show. It only takes us about 5 minutes to get unpacked and ready so we don’t require a lot of time before.

– Payment is to be made in full in either cash, cheque or e-transfer when we arrive. This allows you to get right back to your party after the show and allows us to quickly pack and leave you to your party. Cheques can be made payable to Prairie Exotics. E-transfer can be sent to Info@PrairieExotics.ca with password exotics.

– Have a clear area large enough for everyone to sit comfortably, possibly in a half-circle, so everyone gets to see and enjoy the show. Kids can sit on chairs, couches or the floor. We recommend that you have enough space so our Host can walk between the kids. This allows everyone who wishes to touch the animals the opportunity to do so safely. Basements are fine as long as it isn’t too cool, if we’re comfortable in a t-shirt it’s not too cool for the animals.

– If doing the presentation outdoors pick a shady place for everyone to sit. The show is too long to have kids sitting in the sun and isn’t good for our Hosts or critters either. Make sure that you have an alternate indoor location available should the weather be too cool or rainy.

– Plan to eat before or after the show. Do not have food available during the show. We can’t have kids touching critters then putting their hands/food to their mouths. After the presentation everyone will wash their hands with soap and warm water or sanitize

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you do the show with the children in one room while all of the adults hang out in another room? We require at least one other parent/adult in the room at all times.

Can we serve the kids food, snacks, and beverages during your show? We ask that you don’t serve food or drinks during the show. We don’t want the kids touching animals then putting their hands/food to their mouths.

Do you need a table?
No, we bring our own table and everything we need. The only thing we require is enough space to do the show.

Is the show going to scare any kids?
Unfortunately you cannot predict the reaction of every child. Before the kids interact with an animal we first allow everyone to adjust and calm down after it is first brought out. If kids do not want to interact with an animal they will not be pressured in any way. The show is fun and appropriate for all ages, we do not want to scare kids but help eliminate any fears they may have!

What age groups are your shows suitable for?
We have done parties for 1 year olds (though this may be a bit young for most kids) and we had an 82nd birthday party for a Grandmother booked by her Grandkids. Parties in your home are for all ages!

Can the children be in the room as you set up your show?
It is usually best to keep the children in a separate room while we set up for the show. We realize that sometimes another room is not available and in this case we can be flexible and set up in the same room if need be. If this will be the case, please notify us in advance so that we can prepare accordingly.

How far in advance do you need to be booked? There is no length that is set in stone. As there are only so many spots available during the weekend it is suggested that we’re booked prior to sending out invitations. It may be possible to move the party earlier or later or even to another day to ensure that we are available for your child’s birthday. However, there are occasionally spots open so please feel free to contact us even if its last minute.

When will you arrive? Our Hosts arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for the show. This should give them enough time to park, settle the account and get the critters ready for the show.

Do I need to pay a deposit? There is no deposit necessary. Payment is to be made in full in either cash or cheque when we arrive to set up for the show. This allows you to get right back to your party after the show and allows us to quickly pack and leave you to your party. Cheques can be made payable to Prairie Exotics. E-transfer can be sent to Info@PrairieExotics.ca with password exotics.

Should we have you perform at the start, middle or end of the party? We recommend having the show near the beginning of the party after all the guests arrive. After the show many parents decide to serve cake or open presents. This allows for a better flow for the party and ensures the kids haven’t been filled with sugar before being sat down for the show.

How much space do you need to perform? Although we have performed in many different situations and space restrictions we generally ask for an area large enough for everyone to sit comfortably, possibly in a half-circle, so everyone gets to see and enjoy the show. We recommend that you have enough space so our Host can walk between the kids.

Can you perform outside? We can do the shows outside weather permitting. Obviously if it’s raining the show needs to be inside but as long as it’s warm enough or not too warm we can do it outside. We will only perform shows outside when it’s comfortable for us in a t-shirt.

Are these animals safe for me & my guests? We have been providing parties in home for 5 years without incident. All animals will defend themselves but the animals that we bring were born domestically (some here at Prairie Exotics) and have been with people all their lives. There is absolutely no reason for any concern, after thousands of parties and appearances as well as hundreds of education programs taught, we have had a perfect record of no incidents.
